The curtain rises and the children appear on the stage playing. Suddenly Munni comes there from her house and asks Nina to play a game of bread. She tells him that she has taken all the flour, ghee, lentils, curd, greens, sugar butter from her mother and will now play a game of bread with her. Nina gets ready and the other children accompany her. There is a division of work among children. Tinku gets the job of bringing greens and vegetables from the market and making Chunu the pulse. Sarla will run a whey of curd and Tarla will make roti with Munni.
Tinku Cooked the Badis and Chunnu Cooked the Lentils
The girls act as bread makers. She sings – Thapp Roti Thapp Daal, ready to be eaten. Now all the children act on stage to eat roti and dal. They eat half the food and keep half of it and then go to sleep. Suddenly the cat enters. She looks around at the meow and pretends to take butter and bread from the sneeze. She immediately runs away after eating bread. At the same time, Sarla wakes up and sees the empty pot of butter and shouts – where did the butter-cream go? Children say that the cat licked.
All the children start searching for the cat. Some go in, some come out. Some look in front of the theatre, sometimes acting by sitting down and watching. Then Tarla-Sarla shouts and says – The cat is found.
The cat arrives at the bewildered theatre and is captured by all. They act to kill him by laughing. The cat says – If you all go to sleep after spreading this leg, then I will eat. Saying this, the cat tries to run away. All children surround him. After doing this three or four times, the cat leaves the enclosure and runs away. All the children run after him to catch him.
