NCERT Solutions for Class 3 EVS Chapter 21 Families Can Be Different
NCERT Solutions for Class 2 EVS Chapter 21 teaches about different kinds of families. We all have families. Big or small but we have families. We cannot live without families. Big families are called joint families. They are big and called joint because everyone such as mother, father, grandparents, uncle, aunts, and their children live together under the same roof. Small families are called nuclear families where not more than 4 people live together. We cannot compare our families with each other because we are all different. In this chapter, a few kinds of families are discussed.
Gurleen and Nagarajan live with their two children Tanya and Samar. There are only four members of the family. This family is called the nuclear family.
Sitamma lives in her ancestral home in Guntoor with her grandparents, younger uncle, and aunt. Sitamma lives with her father and mother and her sister Gitamma in the same house. Her elder aunt died a few months back but her husband and her daughter stay in the same house. One of her uncles got married recently and they stay in the same house. This kind of family is called a joint family because it is a big family. Even though they live on different floors of the house, they have a common kitchen. They try to live harmoniously and help each other always.
Tara says that she lives with her mother and her grandfather. Her mother did not marry. She was an adopted child. Her mother goes to the office every day and her grandfather takes care of her when her mother is away. Tara says that her grandfather feeds her when she goes back home. He also helps her with her homework. Sometimes they go out of the station during vacations. Her uncle and aunt come to visit them with their children. They play together for long hours.
Sara and Habib live in a city and both of them are working. They live with Habib’s father who has retired from work. He is at home now and in the evening they all watch TV together and discuss a lot of topics. They don’t have children but neighbour’s children come to their house to play. Everybody enjoys it a lot.
Totaram says that he lives with his father, uncle, and cousin brothers in Mumbai city. His father and uncle work in Mumbai while he and his cousin study. Everyone does the household chores together. Totaram’s uncle cooks food for everyone. His father takes care of the shopping. Totaram’s father and uncle send a part of their income to his grandfather back in the village. Totaram’s mother, grandparents, younger brothers, and sisters live in the village. They go once a year to visit his family. Whenever Totaram misses his mother, he writes long letters to her.
Krishna and Kaveri live with their father. Their mother doesn’t stay with them. Krishna goes to college and Kaveri goes to school. They play together and eat food together after coming back home. When their father comes back from work, they all cook together. Kaveri goes to stay with her mother during her vacation. Krishna also goes and spends some time with their mother.
Conclusion
We learned that everyone has a family though families are different for everyone. No one can stay alone. We all prefer to live with someone. Families are always very loving and caring towards each of its members. We should respect our family members and take care of them.
