A Few Glimpses of Class 2 Maths Chapter 6 Footprints
Class 2 Maths Chapter 6 Footprints teaches students to identify objects as per their shapes and sizes. They will learn different shapes, sizes and sides of objects. The chapter has explained the concept in a story. There were some animals playing in a muddy place. When Bholu came to capture the animals with his camera, the animals ran away leaving behind their footprints. Bholu then matched the footprints with the shape of the animals. That is how he identified them. The footprint in this chapter name means the size and shape of an object.
What are the shapes that we know till now? We know circles, rectangles, and squares. If we know the shapes then we can match the objects with their shapes. You can take a tracing paper and place it on some object and draw the shape of the object. It will be fun to see how you can draw so many shapes and once you get the hang of it you can draw anything like a house, box, tree, book, etc.
Things look differently in shapes and sizes when you see them from different views and distances. You can look at an object from different sides. Any object will have a topside, bottom side, left side and right side. The objects look slightly different from every side.
When the objects are nearer to us then they look bigger to us but when they are far away from us then they look smaller. If we look at objects from top, they look smaller and everything is clearly visible and we can see the whole object. When we look at an object from the left side then we cannot see the right side of the object or when we see the object from the right side, we cannot see the left side of the object. Similarly if we look at an object from the front then we will not be able to see the back part of the object.
